‘Star Trek’ cast honor Anton Yelchin at premiere

According to Deadline.com, J.J. took to the stage at San Diego’s Embarcadero Marina Park Amphitheater and said, “There’s something missing”. While he’s proven himself to be a competent action director, “Star Trek Beyond” is not as good as the previous two films in the rebooted series, it’s still a fun summer movie.

The cast and crew paid tribute before the extravaganza commenced to the late “Trek” stars Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin.

In terms of the character of Chekov and actor Anton Yelchin, J.J. Abrams was quoted as saying that “I would say there’s no replacing him”.

The fourth instalment was recently announced and castmembers including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and Simon are set to return, while Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role of Captain Kirk’s father from 2009’s Star Trek.

The 90-piece orchestra accompanied the film as it was projected on the first-ever outdoor Imax screen. The mammoth movie screen was erected especially for the event.

The 27-year-old actor tragically died when he was trapped by his own auto in a freak accident on the driveway of his Los Angeles home in June, leaving the cast of the sci-fi franchise and fans devastated.

Star Trek 3, a.k.a. Star Trek: Beyond will feature the last appearance of Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek films and the final appearance of actor Anton Yelchin in that role. There is something missing tonight.
