‘Star Trek’ creator’s son unsure of gay Sulu

Simon Pegg has addressed speculation that he and original ‘Star Trek’ actor George Takei have had a falling out, over the sexuality of character Hikaru Sulu. While most people have reacted positively to the news, praising writers Doug Jung and Simon Pegg for the forward-thinking decision, not everyone is pleased, including actor George Takei who played the character in the original TV series.

Pegg concludes by saying that loving Star Trek means “we all want Gene’s idea of a tolerant inclusive, diplomatic and loving Universe to become a reality”.

Gemma’s Hollyoaks character Carmel McQueen was killed off in 2014 and she took a year out to focus on her new role, but inside the studio, Gemma says she’s a completely different woman. Idris Elba, director Justin Lin, and other cast members discuss the character’s complexity and motivations in this new video. Let me know how you feel!

Quinto, who is also openly gay, added: “The LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) community has long advocated for representation in the Star Trek universe”. It’s also important to note that at no point do we suggest that our Sulu was ever closeted, why would he need to be?

Paramount Pictures and IMAX has released the official Star Trek Beyond IMAX poster, featuring the USS Enterprise boldly going where no one has gone before.

The launch of the film has been overshadowed by tragedy as Anton Yelchin, who plays Chekov, was killed in an accident in Los Angeles in June.

I agree with Pegg.
