So as people always wait for the new part of the film and here now Star Trek Beyond is on the big screens and have a great response from the audience.
I’m not particularly a Star Trek guy (my allegiance has always fallen toward Star Wars), but the movies in the Kelvin timeline from producer JJ Abrams definitely entertained and intrigued me enough to give the franchise some attention. Below it, the much kindlier reviewed The Infiltrator has not proven to be a widespread moneymaker (an estimated $3.3 million for a second weekend, $12.2 million in total), but with an unreported budget, its success has yet to be determined. The horror film pulled in an estimated $21.6 million and is neck and neck with “Ghostbusters”, for a third place weekend toll, once the final numbers are released. If estimates hold, that would put Ghostbusters’ ten-day total at around $86 million, a disastrous result given the film’s $250 million price tag (after marketing costs). At current projections, Lights Out’s domestic run alone should net somewhere in the region of about $55 million, which combined with whatever it makes internationally should make it one of the most profitable films of the year.
It earned another $178.9 million for a massive global take of nearly $200 million. With this being the fifth? film in the franchise, it’s time to put a fork in it. The cast includes Queen Latifah, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jennifer Lopez and John Leguizamo. The film scored a 77% approval rating on RottenTomatoes and a B from audiences. But worldwide business, where Ice Age movies tend to do a vast majority of their sales (ticket sales for Ice Age: Continental Drift were more than 80 percent international), will be important.
In its second week, Woody Allen’s Cafe Society expanded to 50 locations. The studio has not yet revealed that film’s release date.
