In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, Facebook has released a new custom series of Like buttons for fans of the show. What made Star Trek so successful for Paramount and engendered itself to so many people was its repeats on syndication, playing for well over ten years after its initial run. In the five decades since Star Trek premiered, it has spawned several more TV shows and 13 movies (the latest of which, “Star Trek Beyond”, hit theaters just this past July). That episode and all subsequent episodes will be exclusively shown in the USA on the video streaming service CBS All Access.

One of the wonderful things that Star Trek achieved was to inspire the creation (or at least spark the imagination) of technologies which have changed the modern tech world.

And sometimes, “Star Trek” fans can become “Star Trek” family.
