The Secret Life of Pets landed in secon place this weekend with $29.33M for a new domestic total of $260.7M off of a $75M budget.
“Lights Out” debuted in third place, tying with “Ghostbusters” in its second week, with both taking in $21.6 million at the box office.

The Y 2009 film earned $129-M internationally. Overseas, it took in another $10.5-M from existing markets for a foreign box office of $36-M and global take of $122.9-M.
The paranormal comedy had earned $86.9 million, but it needed to do well overseas in order to make back its $144 million budget.
The documentary ‘Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, ‘ from conservative political pundit Dinesh D’Souza, edged into the top 10 in its second week with $3.7 mn.

Star Trek Beyond took America by storm as it opened in cinemas over the weekend, flying high and landing straight at the top of the movie charts. For instance, Into Darkness opening at the start of the summer movie season could have meant people were more amped for it, as opposed to a late July release, when people are sort of tired by all the sequels and blockbusters. This weekend was also Comic-Con, and with it, news about the newest Star Trek series with Star Trek: Discovery and its release date.
