Before Jenner found a home on the Deep Space Nine space station, he carved out a successful career on the small screen, most notably on the comedy “Family Matters“, in which he played the recurring role of Lieutenant Murtaugh.

Jenner was born in Philadelphia in 1941, and his first acting roles were on the NBC soap operas Another World and Somerset in 1964 and 1970.

Jenner is arguably best known, however, for his performance as Starfleet Admiral William Ross, who serves the Dominion war, on 12 installments of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which premiered in 1993 and ran for seven seasons until 1999. His resume also includes such credits as Hart to Hart, Knots Landing, Fame, Simon & Simon, Highway to Heaven, St. Elsewhere, Family Ties, Falcon Crest, Matlock, Silk Stalkings, Something So Right, and JAG.

The cause of death was acute myeloid leukemia, according to his wife Suzanne Hunt-Jenner.

A frequent guest celebrity on 1980s game shows $100,000 Pyramid and Super Password, Jenner continued to work extensively on television into the 1990s. He also remained popular on the sci-fi convention circuit.
