J.J. wouldn’t say if the next Star Trek film, which was recently announced, would feature the death of Anton’s character.

“I would say there’s no replacing him”, “There’s no re-casting”.
Speaking at the movie’s United Kingdom premiere last week, Spock actor Zachary Quinto said, “Losing Anton is unthinkable for all of us and I think it brought us closer together through the bonding of grieving his loss”. But Star Trek fans will not be seeing Yelchin in Star Trek 4.
Abrams told the Toronto Sun that the Chekov role won’t be recast for the producer’s planned fourth Star Trek film. “We knew we were going to make a tribute to Leonard when it happened, but we thought let’s make him part of the DNA of the story too”, Pegg said.
The 27-year-old actor tragically died when he was trapped by his own auto in a freak accident on the driveway of his Los Angeles home in June this year, leaving the cast of the sci-fi franchise and fans devastated. His cause of death was blunt traumatic asphyxia, after he was pinned between his auto and his mailbox. Chris Pine, center, plays Kirk in this week’s new “Star Trek Beyond”.
Just a month after the untimely death of Anton Yelchin, filmmaker J.J.
It’s the first of the reboots to feel like classic “Trek” through and through, and it’s packed with wonderful character moments for the entire cast. “Thor” actor Chris Hemsworth will also return to reprise his role as George Kirk, the father of Pine’s James Kirk, who appeared in 2009’s “Star Trek”.

YOU CANNOT knowledgeably watch “Star Trek Beyond” without the pang of awareness that this is the last we’ll see of Anton Yelchin’s Chekov. Though still a producer, J.J. Abrams handed the directing reins to Justin Lin (helmer of four of the “Fast and Furious” films) in what turns out to be a almost seamless stylistic transition.
