Star Wars Battlefront fights for ‘Supremacy’ in new game mode

Star Wars Battlefront is due 19th November in the UK on PS4, Xbox One and PC. All versions of the game will be able to get two special maps on Dec. 8 that take place on Jakku, the planet featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, (hitting theaters starting Dec. 18) but pre-ordering the game will let you have access to these new stages on Dec. 1.

Supremacy centers on five control points scattered across the map.

Star Wars: Battlefront is keeping the concept of control points on the map, but is doing away with the ticket concept. So each team will be simultaneously trying to win a control point while defending one of their own.

According to the usually likeable Peter Moore – who was speaking to GameSpot, potentially at a tattoo parlour – the game doesn’t have a traditional story mode because “data” suggests that “few people” actually play them.

On an unrelated but humorous note, Moore also said in the interview that Konami and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima will “kiss and make up”. Spawn points are closer to the action to keep players near whatever point is now being targeted.

“By focusing on one key point at a time, players not playing the objective and camping on a hill somewhere will be a rare sight”, he added.

The mode sounds more like Chain Link (a Conquest variant), which came as part of the Dragon’s Teeth expansion pack for Battlefield 4. For example, the central control point on the Endor map is a Ewok village in the trees that offers multiple ways of entering huts and a degree of verticality.

Supremacy Mode joins other modes confirmed for Star Wars Battlefront. The post goes on to describe a frontline filled with infantry, starfighters, and vehicles, as well as iconic Star Wars characters.

Playable characters in Supremacy include Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett.
