Star Wars Battlefront’s offline Skirmish mode out next week
Dice has finally confirmed that an offline mode is coming for all players of Star Wars Battlefront.

Currently, the “Death Star” DLC pack is slated to be released sometime during the fall, though EA has yet to provide a more specific release date.
The “Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star” DLC is expected to be available in a few months.
“Today we’re excited to officially announce a new mode, Skirmish, for all Star Wars Battlefront players”, said Dennis Brannvall, lead designer on Battlefront. This is one of the most requested features for the game for obvious reasons.
“We’ve been listening to your feedback and your desire for more offline modes”.
Arriving next Wednesday, July 20, meanwhile, is a new offline “Skirmish” mode that lets players compete against bots in single-player or via local split-screen. The Skirmish option will be available in existing Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron modes, and can be played over a variety of difficulty options. With multiple locations that span the galaxy, from the frozen planet of Hoth to the lava encrusted planet of Sullust, we hope Skirmish brings players a new way to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront. Perhaps it just means, as pointed out in the comments of this article, that it’s split-screen limited to console. More to the point, I don’t see how it makes the game more appealing for people who aren’t already playing.

You’ll be able to hear further details about the Death Star content at the Star Wars Celebration event this week, with a Star Wars Panel livestream on Saturday, July 16 at 11 AM PDT.
