As of January, Emirates will be making Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983), Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (2005) available on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system. Those diehards have been camping outside the Los Angeles premiere of The Force Awakens for almost a week. That’s what Star Wars-loving father, Andy Herald, did with his six-year-old son. As always, Star Wars seems to make even the most mundane behind-the-scenes decisions part of the big show.

Crews are setting up a tent spanning four city blocks on L.A.’s Hollywood Boulevard for the world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Dec. 14. The reality of getting such a coveted role has not yet sunk in for the actress, whose past credits include a few television series appearances.

“When I first got cast, no one could know, so it’s three months of me going “alright I can deal with this, this is me”, she said.

In what might be taken by Star Wars fans to be a sign she was guided by the Force itself – the spiritual, metaphysical power which binds the galaxy in the science fiction films – Ridley says she told her agent: “I need to audition”. “I think they were just seeing many, many girls because obviously, if they weren’t, then I would never have been seen”.

In fact, one story is the premiere itself!
