“The Force Awakens” will be a far, far better film. San Francisco State University Professor of Cinema and film historian Steven Kovacs said multiple factors contribute to the longstanding popularity of the original “Star Wars” movie. Director J.J. Abrams and the cast discuss the impact of the unique shooting format. “While we do not sit down and describe what he’s been doing for those years, we do discover in the context of the story what the complications have been in his life”. Ford said, looking straight into the camera with a slight smile on his face.

Ridley, who plays a scavenger, said the film captures the “delightful” tone of the earlier movies.

That having been said, however, “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” is undoubtedly worth getting excited about.

When speaking about “Star Wars”, there are few topics that inspire a twinkle in Harrison Ford’s eyes. Thankfully, director J.J. Abrams made a decision to shoot some sequences in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the format, so theatergoers on December 18 will be in for a treat. In this featurette, Abrams and the cast (including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Harrison Ford) talk more about the filming process.

Then there’s Star Wars’ first-ever female “baddie”, Captain Phasma, played by 191cm Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones fame (Brynne of Tarth), who is again decked out in shining armour – this time a remodelled storm trooper outfit. But it’s also just noise and what I hope it speaks to is people’s interest in seeing the movie. “That’s… not so much, no. I don’t think so”. When I actually think about the movie and what I think about the work that has been done – the performances that these actors have given, the design and the music and the sound and the editing and the visual effects and the action, all the work that went into every scene – it’s more exciting thinking about what people are going to get to experience.

Like the Drafthouse, “Star Wars” costuming groups the and have booked numerous events around the new film (they’ll be in attendance on opening day at the Drafthouse, too). “Many, many tears.” – Reuters, December 12, 2015.

Other “Star Wars”-related events plan to capitalize on the expected longevity of “The Force Awakens” in theaters”.
