“It’s a testament to the power of cinema, that it does not matter where you’re from, you can get caught up in a story”, said Abrams.
He added: “They weren’t that keen to have me involved anyway”.
The clarification comes after comments Lucas made during an interview this month with Charlie Rose.
Irish singer GAVIN JAMES was left red-faced while attending the 2015 Oscar Wilde Awards after unwittingly bad-mouthing honouree CARRIE FISHER to her STAR WARS co-star MARK HAMILL. Another added collectible for those Star Wars fanatic is the recent magazine release from Summit Books, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Movie Special.
“I sold them to the white slavers that takes these things, and…”, he said in the interview, before deciding not to finish the sentence. The interview was conducted prior to the December 14 premiere of the film, where Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger thanked Lucas, who was in attendance, for his “sheer genius” in creating “Star Wars”. It has overshadowed 1999’s “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace”, which used to hold the worldwide box office record among the “Star Wars” movies.
With more than a billion dollars in ticket sales and a 94 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems like just about everybody is happy with “Star Wars'” seventh installment.
He said that Disney, which bought the rights to “Star Wars” from Lucasfilm for $4 billion in 2012, “is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise”.
“The Force Awakens” plays homage to Lucas’ original trilogy and has garnered largely positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
Lucas also said he’s at peace with his decision, calling the new director, J.J. Abrams a “good director” and “good friend”.

Lucas, 71, reportedly offered some ideas for J.J. Abram’s new film to Disney, which “they decided they didn’t want to use”. Most of all I’m blown away with the record breaking blockbuster success of the new movie and am very proud of JJ and Kathy.
