Star Wars movie’s global sales reach massive $250 million
Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Thursday night box office has beaten a record previously owned by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the hotly anticipated seventh installment in the sci-fi saga, earned a staggering $238 million at the North American box office during its opening weekend, Rentrak announced Sunday.
Through Friday, worldwide ticket sales reached $US129.5 million, setting opening-day records in Britain, Germany, Brazil, Australia and other countries. That should make the $200-million-plus production very profitable for the company.
