“The Force Awakens” has already brought in an estimated $517 million, although that figure does not exceed the worldwide first-weekend receipts of $524 million for “Jurassic World”.

As far as all-time box office sales, two films by James Cameron hold the record – “Avatar” (US$2.78 billion) and “Titanic” (US$2.18 billion).

Critics lauded the movie’s throwback feel, doses of humor and the performances of newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. Force Awakens does not debut in the world’s 2nd-largest movie going market until 9 January.
