Star Wars Release Attracts Hundreds To Local Theaters

In a movie theater far, far away (or west Little Rock), fans and characters from all over the galaxy eagerly wait to see the newest Star Wars movie Thursday night.

Chris Hardy has been a Star Wars fan since the very beginning.

Recent rampages in movie theaters – including in Colorado, where a gunman killed 12 people and injured close to 70 others in 2012 – prompted movie theaters across the U.S.to increase security, especially during highly anticipated releases, such as “Star Wars”.

“I’m a little anxious that it won’t live up to the hype”, a fan in Boston said. And dozens of tickets are still available in New York City theaters for about $50, the online marketplace shows.

“Came out the year I was born and probably every year since”, she said.

He drove more than an hour to Essex Cinema to see the first showing. Some people are already lining up now at theaters across the country.

At the Phoenix Theaters, they are playing the movies non-stop through the early morning hours. “I’m just excited to finally see it”, said Ryan Kikkawa.

Andre Liptak was one of a dozen volunteers from the 501st Legion.

For some people, Star Wars is literally part of them. “Lightsabers are okay, but for the general safety, we’re going to restrict a few minor things”.

Following violence during movie screenings in recent years, some theater chains issued strict rules for costumes and props during “Star Wars” showings.

He said this latest movie is one of the biggest events he’s had since he got involved over a decade ago. “It’s nice that he gets to see it premiere in his adult life”, said Laura Bice.

“We love Star Wars, we’re silly about it”, said Regina Biesinger.
