The film, which is set to be released in December, is being directed by Nuneaton director Gareth Edwards.

The Warwickshire director has previously commented that the climax of the film will be “crucial” to A New Hope, the 1977 movie which kick-started the ground-breaking franchise.

The two-minute video stars Rogue One’s lead character, Jyn Erso, who will be played by Felicity Jones, a possible nod to all the fans upset that female hero Rey was largely absent from toy sets and their advertising for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Despite the absence of Darth Vader this season, the show will go on without a hitch thanks to Thrawn.

According to industry data tracker, NPD, Star Wars products were the largest contributor to the United States toy industry’s seven per cent rise in sales in the first half of this year.

Chapter 1 left off with Jyn Erso fleeing with the instructions to the LEGO Death Star. And an old friend of Krennic’s, the brilliant scientist Galen Erso, could be the key.

Apparently, Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), who heads the Empire’s Advanced Weapons Research, essentially forces Galen to use his “energy-focused” research for a nefarious goal. Krennic then recruits his friend and the brilliant scientist Galen to help design an energy weapon in the Death Star.
