Rogue One director Garerth Edwards did confirm, nearly in passing, that James Earl Jones, the real Darth Vader, had recorded some lines for a character but played hard to get when it came down to which character.

Disney have released another glimpse at the hotly anticipated Stars Wars: Rogue One and it does not disappoint.

If you don’t feel like watching the trailer, here’s a description of what the Sith formerly known as Anakin Skywalker got up to: nothing.

Check out the trailer and poster below.

And, to a bare bones version of his theme music, we also briefly see the galaxy’s most ruthless dark lord and action figure.

Rogue One tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.

Although his appearance is very fleeting at the end of the trailer, hearing that heavy breathing immediately recalls the goosebumps of Darth Vader’s earlier appearances in George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy.

The trailer aired in the U.S. during NBC’s coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last night (11.08.16).

After an agonizing wait for diehard fans who had always been teased, the action-packed trailer finally dropped showing the highly anticipated cameo by the villainous Darth Vader. So while Star Wars fans across the world seem excited by this, not everyone considers this a good thing.

In a new video from YouTube channel Auralnauts, Kylo Ren records a reaction video for the new trailer.

Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn (who is oddly ignored in this trailer).

A bunch of the iconography of the classic franchise is there, like Star Destroyers, stormtroopers and the Death Star. James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Darth Vader.
