There are very few box-office worlds left to conquer for The Force Awakens, Dergarabedian says, and what’s been most impressive is how quickly it has smashed everything in sight.

Richard Huang, an analyst at Nomura Securities, expects the movie to roughly match the $229 million in Chinese box-office sales that “Jurassic World” generated previous year.

The Forest was not as frontloaded as most horror movies, bringing in $13 million for the weekend.

Combined with its grosses from the two weeks it spent in limited release, “The Revenant” has now made $39.5 million. “Concussion“, $3.1 million. _ Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at global theaters (excluding the USA and Canada), according to Rentrak: 1.

Again, there’s a reason that the movie was trimmed down by about 35 minutes, with a final cut of 2 hours and 16minutes, so seeing this extended cut might be a more clumsy version of the movie with awkward pacing. Receipts at China’s box office surged almost 50 percent a year ago, compared with the 7.2 percent growth seen in North America. Hauling in $38 million dollars, it’s one of the best weekends ever for the actor at the box office, with only “Shutter Island”, “The Great Gatsby”, and “Inception” having better figures on their debut weekends.

Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” dropped a steep 60% from its wide release bow despite adding 464 theaters. “The Big Short”, $4.6 million. 15. The film is hardly in trouble yet; it has $41.5 million domestic, worldwide openings still to come and a budget of just $44 million.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip was down three spots to #8 in its fourth weekend, bringing in $5.5 million. “Detective Chinatown”, $11.8 million. 6. “Mojin: The Lost Legend”, $4.3 million. 16. The true story-based sports drama fell off badly, down 61% from last weekend. If Revenant can have a strong hold its 2nd weekend, it could become the 29 movie released in 2015 to reach $100 million. Where available, the latest worldwide numbers for Friday through Sunday are also included. After one month, Sisters has earned $75 million and could wind down its run around $95 million.
