The opening weekend box office run by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is nothing short of historic.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out in theaters, and Star Wars fever is back with force around the world.
The film is certain to go past the current weekend record holder though, i.e. Jurassic World, which enjoyed a mammoth weekend of $208.8 million.
WHO’S LAUGHING NOW? Star Wars creator George Lucas, left, turned out his baby to the franchise’s new director, J.J. Abrams, and the results have been record-breaking. People love to watch all kind of movies either it is Hollywood, Bollywood, or other one.
The movie has opened in all markets except Greece and India, where it starts playing on Christmas Eve, and China, which has set a Jan 9 debut. Those companies combined to spend an additional $68.1 million on their “Star Wars”-related ads”.
Worldwide ticket sales, however, place “Star Wars” behind “Jurassic World”, which made $524.9 million globally in its first weekend.
It’s been impossible to miss the huge advertising effort put into the new “Star Wars”.
Analysts predict that the seventh installment of the iconic space saga, which cost Disney an estimated $200 million to produce, could score the biggest opening weekend ever and could even become the biggest film of all time.
Buzz about the film has been building for over a year, and now, between the hype and critics’ positive reviews, it’s no surprise it’s bringing record numbers at the gate.
