‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ breaks presale records

“This is an extraordinary time for the industry, which experienced unprecedented ticketing demand last night for Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, Fandango said in a statement, without providing numbers. IMAX has reported that its ticket sales reached more than $6.5 million within 24 hours of the trailer’s release.

The third trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted during the halftime slot on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

The traffic was so heavy that the websites crashed for many people.

Star Wars fans rejoiced Monday as the latest trailer for the seventh motion picture installment of the franchise was released, but many diehard fans have noticed something interesting or a lack of something. The most notable price inflations, however, occur on listings for small sets of tickets for $10,000 and up. Sure enough, Star Wars: The Force Awakens tickets were being advertised on a number of sites including Fandango, MovieTickets.com, AMC, Regal, Cinemark and more. So far, the video trailer has been seen over 21 million times on social media sites like YouTube.

The Force Awakens will open in Australian cinemas on December 17. This is surely going to be one for the books! Let’s hope we never get sick of Star Wars… The insane coincidence part is that he did it on Dinner for Five, a show on IFC that featured filmmakers sitting around talking about their craft, characters, pasts, and futures: on an episode with J.J. Abrams, director of The Force Awakens.

The new “Star Wars” trailer seems to have everything – Tie Fighters, X-Wings, Han Solo, a desert planet that may be Tattooine, and even a glimpse of Darth Vader’s burnt helmet.
