“Movie theaters have a chance to reintroduce themselves to movie-goers who come for “Star Wars” but may not have come for a few years”, said National Association of Theatre Owners spokesman Patrick Corcoran.
Film critic and future hate mail recipient Emilio Ranzato writes in the Vatican’s daily newspaper L’Osservatore Romano that the first film in the new trilogy is “in fact modeled on the sloppiest current action films derived from the world of video games”.
Fresh competition or not, the box office galaxy likely still belongs to Disney’s “The Force Awakens”. Which one? Any would be great!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to break another record, as it’s on course to make more money than any other film by the end of the week – 12 days after the initial release.

“Star Wars” has a winning formula that includes legions of fans devoted to the franchise and marketing momentum ramped up by Hollywood entertainment titan Disney.
“The Force Awakens” will be aiming to top “Jurassic World” again for another record during the upcoming weekend as it sets sights on eclipsing the $106 million mark set in June by the second weekend of the dino sequel.
No disrespect to Jurassic World or Furious 7 – their successes are nothing to scoff at – but if they can have such massive debuts in 2015 and snag the third and fifth spots on the list of the highest-grossing movies of all time, then The Force Awakens will probably surpass them.

Its members had not been able to see The Force Awakens before sending in their ballots. Not because he is a diehard Harrison Ford fan, but because, as a source for NBC says, “he doesn’t watch movies”.
