Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD Won’t Have An Extended Cut
“Furious 7” – from Comcast’s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Universal Pictures – is now the record holder for the No. 1 US film in China (and second-highest grossing overall in the country), with $391 million in ticket sales.

For the entire weekend, the movie easily got Chinese viewers to shell out about $53 million, according to Walt Disney Co, which owns the film. Age of Ultron finished with 240.1 million from China, being a large portion of the total oversees amount, $946 million.
The Force Awakens has been well-recieved by the majority of fans despite claims it is a remake which closely follows the plot of the original Star Wars trilogy. “So I’m just so happy that all the work everyone did, even people you don’t see in the movie – puppeteers who were painted out, I’d watched them in 125-degree heat in Abu Dhabi bring BB-8 to life – I’m just so glad people get to see all the work this unbelievable cast and crew did”. The seventh film in the Star Wars saga brought in $41.6 million to claim #1 for a fourth week.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds over 30 box office records, including the highest domestic gross in history since opening day.
It also continued to reign over the North American box office, where it grossed another $41.6 million (£27.7 million) to successfully fight off Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant, which debuts at two with $38 million (£25.3 million).
Check back each week for box office previews and results and the latest movie reviews from 22News. The R-rated comedy is now up to $74.9 million domestically and $83.1 million worldwide, making it nicely ahead of their 2008 team-up Baby Moma ($60.5 million) already.

It has become the first to make more than $800m (£550m), having taken $812m (£558m) so far. It was able to top Star Wars on Friday by $4 million, but lost the lead over Saturday and Sunday. All this, from a movie that was only expected to earn around $20 million this weekend. So let’s kindly forget my thoughts from last week where I said it had a shot at hitting $100M, shall we? The Revenant however, did have a significantly better opening than The Hateful Eight had when it expanded last weekend.
