‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ shines at box office in India
Star Wars: A New Hope and the subsequent sequels remain key cultural movies for generations of space opera fans since their release in the late 70s and early 80s.

Rian Johnson, the man behind hits like Looper and Brick, is the man tasked with directing the eighth movie, which has a release date of May 26th, 2017.
“There will be a handful of new cast members in Episode VIII but also all the cast members you see here tonight will be in it as well”, producer Kathleen Kennedy said about the possible new faces in the next film.
“(Chinese moviegoers) are very attuned to what happens in the rest of the world”, said Greg Foster, chief executive of cinema group IMAX Corp (IMAX.N), which saw the film take in $48 million in its theatres worldwide in its opening weekend.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is now playing in theatres, and Episode VIII is slated for May 26, 2017.

The seventh instalment of the “Star Wars” saga also broke the opening week domestic box office record, earning $391.1 million after seven days in theatres, reported Ace Showbiz.
“Star Wars” isn’t just strong. It will continue to dominate the box office over Christmas and doesn’t even open in China until January 9. The only thing they added was the “Battle of Jakku” DLC, but that was set several years before the film.
“The “Star Wars” franchise is holding an IOU that it could cash in this year”, said Tom O’Neil, editor-in-chief of Gold Derby, a site that handicaps Hollywood awards and other events.
