Star Wars: The Force on the Farm

And in a sign indicating the movie will have an especially long run at multiplexes, opening day audiences have given “The Force Awakens” an A CinemaScore – including an A+ grade among women and A+ scores with audiences under 18 and under 25.

In such rarified territory, Disney has been cautious about overestimating the box-office force of J.J. Abrams’ seventh chapter in George Lucas’ space saga. Hollis has repeatedly reminded that “there are literally millions of tickets available”. It set a one-day record in Norway and Sweden.

But in the past year, “Star Wars” has basically taken over the world in anticipation of the release of “The Force Awakens”.

The film is playing at a total of 4,134 North American locations.

Of that $57-million, almost half came from 3-D screenings, and roughly 10-percent came from IMAX screenings. The largest was France, where the film earned $5.2 million. My appreciation for the franchise has grown exponentially over the past year.

That strong word of mouth will help “The Force Awakens” attract the kind of repeat viewings that made James Cameron’s “Avatar” and “Titanic” the highest grossing films of all time. The record is held by “Avatar” with $2.8 billion.

But so far, “The Force Awakens” is attracting the interest of seemingly everyone.

“Our entire family are big fans, and Robby and I have shared our childhood love of “Star Wars” with our children, so they have pretty much always grown up with “Star Wars, ‘” said Natasha Jones”. He owns a lightsaber that his brother gave him during their marathon wait to see “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”, even though he’s not planning to view the new movie in costume.
