Starbucks recalls holiday turkey sandwiches linked to Costco E. coli outbreak

In total, over 155,000 products are targeted by the recall and include vegetable trays and salad kits. Affected stores include 7-Eleven, King Soopers, Raley’s, Save Mart, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Starbucks, Target, Walmart and Sam’s Club.

The coffee chain’s holiday turkey sandwiches in California, Oregon and Nevada were included in a recall of dozens of food items containing celery from Taylor Farms Pacific, which was announced on Thanksgiving Day last week.

Starbucks has yanked its holiday turkey panini sandwiches from 1,347 locations across the United States after the sandwiches were linked to a contaminated celery outbreak.

The source of a an E. coli outbreak spanning seven states has been traced back to a single ingredient in Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad: diced celery.

On October 18, 2015, Plaintiff purchased a Costco Rotisserie Chicken Salad from the Costco Wholesale store in Bozeman, Montana, according to the Complaint filed in the case.

The FDA posted a complete list of recalled products on its website and urged consumers who bought chicken salad from Costco on or before November 20 to throw it out as a precaution.

Nineteen people from six states reported feeling ill.

Last month, E. coli was found in chicken salad sold at Issaquah, Washington-based retailer Costco.

As a result, 45 people were diagnosed with food poisoning after contracting the E. coli O26 outbreak strain, while 43 of them say they ate at Chipotle in the week before they became sick, reports The Seattle Times.

FDA officials are continuing to investigate the outbreak. She also said that no other products of the company were affected.

Experts have suggested that it is very common for people to have E.coli in their intestines, but some of its forms can turn out fatal. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
