Starcraft HD Reveal Coming This September
Growing up in the 90s, playing some real-time strategy games on PC was a favorite pastime. However, it looks like Blizzard might have something bigger planned, with reports this week claiming that a HD version of the original StarCraft is on the way and could be announced as soon as next month. The announcement for StarCraft HD is coming as early as September, according to iNews24, with more details set to debut at November’s BlizzCon event. The upgraded version of StarCraft will feature “improved graphics resolution and user interface”, but will reportedly play just as the original did. The information comes from a “source” close to Blizzard so this has not been confirmed.

Years after its official release, Starcraft continues to be widely played around the globe, making its way among the top ten most popular net cafe games in Korea.
If the report turns out to be legitimate, fans will be able to experience the story that started the Starcraft universe with updated graphics.
But, as with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt, even if an HD version would make a lot of sense for Blizzard.
StarCraft was released back in 1998 and by today’s standards it’s looking quite dated, but it could be receiving a makeover.

We’ve contacted Blizzard for comment, but it’s unlikely that it will address the matter at this point.
