This is the second straight off-season that Benn has gone under the knife. “In working with the Gaglardi family and Jim Nill, they have made it clear that they are dedicated to winning, and winning the right way”. Once there, Galileo orbited the planet for eight years, collecting data about Jupiter’s faint rings and its moons. He also had five goals and 10 assists in 13 playoff games.

The seven-year veteran will likely crack the 200 career goal barrier in 2016-17, as he’s scored 192 times in 508 regular season games so far. “He impacts the game in so many ways and this signing was extremely important for the direction of the franchise. He’s our leader and does things the right way, every day”.

Surely Team Canada would prefer the guy that has more points than anybody over the last two seasons, but there will be no shortage of star players available to them should they need to replace Benn. His successes have been noticed by the entire National Hockey League, and he was a finalist for the Hart trophy in 2016. Per the team release, Benn’s availability for the World Cup, which begins on September 17 in Toronto, will be determined after those six weeks have passed. The Stars selected Benn in the fifth round (129th overall) at the 2007 NHL Draft.
