Starting Johnny Manziel necessary for team to close door

12 Bengals players were targeted on passes throughout Sunday’s game including four rookies, three of whom made catches. I can’t say we’re all on board 100 percent. “No, that’s not reality because when things don’t go well, everybody has their opinions and their reasons why”. The biggest indictement on the Cleveland quarterback has been his commitment and work ethic, and the Browns are certainly not convinced that he is their future under center.

This comes after Austin Davis was given the start and the Browns were destroyed by the Cincinnati Bengals, 37-3.

“I think we already have a sense of where he is from a football standpoint”.

But during his news conference later in the day, Browns head coach Mike Pettine said he hasn’t reached a decision. “You just have to make sure as you question everything that you realize this is our core, this is what we’re doing well, and these are the areas we need to improve”.

The Browns coach discussed the apprehension among the front office Monday, one day after Cleveland dropped to 2-10 with a blowout loss to the rival Bengals. I was not a Johnny Manziel fan when he was flashing the “Money” signs during his time at Texas A&M and I would be a liar if I said I was rooting for him to succeed in the NFL.

“We’ll make that decision [Monday]”, Pettine said, via ESPN.com. Manziel, who started the season as the back up to Josh McCown, but found his way into the lineup via injuries and strong efforts both in practice and during games, suddenly looked to be entrenched as “the guy” for Cleveland.

“We have to make sure that we stay very clear headed with it. Like I said before, it goes back to an accurate assessment of what our problems are”.

Manziel started against the Bengals on November 5 and the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 15 because McCown was out broken ribs. Dalton knows. “10-2 gives us a chance to be 11-2”, he said. He was set to start the rest of the year coming out of the Browns bye, but then some bye week partying resulted in him being demoted to third string.

The Cincinnati Bengals may not have had Tyler Eifert when they took on the Browns in Cleveland, but that didn’t stop them from moving the ball down the field easily.

“Now it depends on how those games go”, he said. Nine plays later, Dalton ran a quarterback sneak from the 3 for a 7-0 lead. With four games left in this death march, why not just throw the troubled quarterback out there to generate the slightest dose of intrigue?
