State buildings in Flint, Mich., got clean water as officials denied contamination
“To have the governor of a state be so cavalier and unsafe, and intentionally endanger the people of the city of Flint, is something so incomprehensible”, she said.

In January of 2015, when state officials were telling anxious Flint residents their water was safe to drink, they also were arranging for coolers of purified water in Flint’s State Office Building so employees wouldn’t have to drink from the taps, according to state government e-mails released Thursday by the liberal group Progress Michigan. Snyder has promised to put forward more funding for Flint in his upcoming annual budget proposal – when he also will detail plans for a one-time $575 million surplus – but has not said how much.
To recycle the thousands of water bottles being distributed to Flint during the water crisis, a coalition of state, Genesee County, city of Flint and other partners are working to educate residents on the benefits of recycling.
According to a report a year ago from MLive, notices that were sent to Flint residents in January noted that the drinking water tested showed elevated levels of trihalomethanes, which, in excessive amounts, can “cause liver, kidney or central nervous system problems and an increased risk of cancer”. It’s unclear if a federal agency can legally make such demands of a state or a state agency, even though the state has said it will comply. Several residents say they w…
Help – $28 million of it – is on its way to Flint, Michigan. Last fall, studies conducted by the local Hurley Medical Center and later by the state found that lead levels in the blood of Flint children younger than 5 had almost doubled since the city began tapping from the Flint River. The board says the reasons for a recall must be clear and factual, under MI law. The Republican governor said the funding will provide immediate resources in Flint, but is not the end of state assistance.
Snyder said Friday he had “no knowledge of that taking place”.
