State Department Admits Five-Month Gap in Hillary Clinton Emails
For the information to be removed forever, a server must be “wiped”, a process in which everything is overwritten over the underlying data with nonsense, possibly several times. That could mean more than 30,000 emails Clinton says she deleted from the device could be recovered.

Walker himself took to Twitter after the speech to respond to Clinton, tweaking her use of private jets and including a photo of him riding a motorcycle. In June 2013, the company moved the hardware from Clinton’s Chappaqua, N.Y. home to a data center in New Jersey. “This ’email gap” information was forwarded to other top officials in the State Department, including Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick Kennedy”.
But this new discovery, and especially any of the reportedly deleted emails that may be recovered, will keep the email scandal at the forefront of Clinton’s campaign, allowing the dark cloud to linger a little longer.
Judicial Watch today released newly obtained Department of State documents showing a nearly.ive-month total gap in the emails former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton decided to return to the State Department late previous year. Because State Department employees “may delete messages they deem in their own discretion to be personal“, the briefing reads, the Judicial Watch argument “reduces to an unsupported allegation that former Secretary Clinton might have mistakenly or intentionally deleted responsive agency records rather than personal records”. “I don’t know how it works digitally at all“, Clinton said.
Her decision to use a private server potentially put thousands of pages of State Department emails at risk, but it also shielded her correspondence from congressional and Freedom of Information Act requests.
“…she came out with the Nevada statute books and opens it up and starts reading the statute about how you’re allowed to get voter registration… it says pretty explicitly here in the statute that this sort of action is prohibited”.
But Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, one of a number of conservative-leaning groups suing over the emails, said Friday that the Justice Department “is out to lunch” because the emails on Clinton’s account effectively belonged to the government. As such, the Justice Department’s findings won’t stop a senate committee from calling former Clinton aides to testify about how she managed her email. But the probe goes on, and has even widened to take in the email issue.
Deleting emails is not the same at wiping a server. “The probability of recovering material is very, very much higher if you haven’t wiped it”. “Nothing I ever sent or received was marked classified at the time“, she explained.
The first server and Kendall’s thumb drives have been handed over to the FBI, which is investigating whether classified information was mishandled on the devices.
