The body recovered Monday afternoon wasn’t immediately identified. On Monday, the body of a third victim was pulled from the lake.

The accident happened at Mill Lake in East Troy, Wis., according to Recreational Safety Warden Jason Roberts of the Department of Natural Resources, which is investigating the incident. The friends discovered the four were missing around 9 a.m., after finding footprints in the snow to the boathouse and a canoe overturned in the lake.

Crews have recovered three bodies from the icy lake. Authorities said they won’t stop looking until the last missing man is found. “Any resources we need I’m pulling in, so we can bring this to a conclusion as soon as possible”, Walworth County Sheriff Kurt Picknell said. Crews were still searching for the body of a yet-unnamed fourth man Tuesday morning. The rest of the group called for help the next morning after they realized the men never returned to the house and saw their three-seater canoe overturned in the water. Two other bodies were recovered Sunday.

Officials identified the bodies of Lanny Patrick Sack, 20, and Christopher J. McQuillan, 21 on Monday after they were recovered Sunday.

An overturned canoe was found as well as evidence of cracked ice.

No personal flotation devices or life jackets were found in the water at the scene, he said. Roberts said alcohol was involved but it’s unclear if that was a factor in the deaths, which he said appeared to be “a confluence of bad choices that ended rather tragically on this New Year’s”. Mill Lake is located on the north end of Lake Beulah near East Troy.
