“We will continue to review the situation and maintain our increased patrols in crowded areas, iconic locations and transport hubs”.
MA has increased the number of state police at Logan International Airport and the number of transit police on the public transit system after Tuesday’s terrorist attacks at an airport and train station in Brussels, Belgium.
No known, specific or credible threat to Metro at this time. “We will keep those lost and injured and their families in our thoughts”.
On Tuesday, bombs exploded at the Brussels airport and one of the city’s metro stations, killing at least 31 people and wounding dozens.
TransLink’s Transit Police says it is taking extra security precautions with the deployment of additional police officers in high visibility uniforms. As more information is gathered on the attacks, it will be disseminated among federal, state and local partners. NBC News also reported that The New York Police Department would boost security, a move that has been a standard approach to terror fears. “As always, a multi-layered plan is in place at the airports and seaports”.
