The incident happened at around 7:40 p.m.
FOX43’s Jackie De Tore reports that witnesses say a man pulled out a gun in the pharmacy area of the store and he was later shot.
The man instead raised his gun, and the trooper pushed the barrel away, YDR said. The gunman’s shotgun blast missed and struck a wall while the trooper’s shot struck the man in the chest.
Markowski was responsive at the scene before he was transported to York Hospital.
State Police say Thomas Markowski tried shooting the Walmart in a motorized wheelchair and demanded four boxes of the painkiller Fentanyl. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
