President Obama and French President François Hollande spoke by phone Thursday to discuss the investigation into the Paris terror attacks and the military campaign against the Islamic State and Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

It said both leaders reiterated their unwavering commitment to degrade and destroy ISIL, using another acronym for the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

The White House said Hollande’s visit will underscore the friendship and solidarity between the United States and France, the nation’s oldest ally.

They will also discuss further cooperation as part of the 65-member counter-IS coalition, and “reiterate our shared determination to confront the scourge of terrorism”, the statement said.

The town, already being bombed by Russian Federation and a U.S.-led alliance, came under heavy French air raids in the immediate aftermath of the killings in Paris that left 129 dead on Friday evening.
