States that want snow won’t get much from storm

“We do have one storm system that is well offshore; however, it is going to bring some snow, especially to the immediate coast after midnight (Sunday) and the morning hours (Monday)”, said Lance Franck, a meteorologist at the Mount Holly station.

Forecasters say the storm will be nothing like the blizzard that dumped 22 inches in Philadelphia in late January, but there’s the potential for some parts of the region to get four to eight inches.

But the wind-whipped waves, caused serious flooding in areas like Lighthouse Road, where not only were the streets filled with water but the basements were filling up as well.

Most of central New Jersey is under a winter weather advisory, including Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth counties, where snowfall totals are projected to range from 3 to 6 inches. While we were spared with any rain or snow, tidal flooding and beach erosion has once again become the main factor with these winter storms.

With coastal flood advisories and watches in effect through Tuesday, many are thinking about the damage done just weeks ago, though this next storm will be dramatically minor compared to the last event. Coastal Flood Watches start early Tuesday morning. Highs Tuesday will struggle to break past the freezing mark, and they won’t recover much from there.
