States with best and worst school systems
Using 17 different metrics, the network concluded once again that MA has the best school system in the country, while Louisiana has the worst this year. The state, in fact, ranked 14th best overall in a new study published by the personal-finance website. The quality of education was among one of the top things that the analysts looked at when it came to the state’s schools. The report examined each state across 17 metrics, ranging from student-teacher ratio to average SAT and ACT scores to dropout rate.

At the top of the list is MA with 73.65 points and ranks first for both School-System Quality and School System Safety. MA and CT tied for the highest average ACT scores, while ME had the fourth lowest SAT scores.
MA earned first-place honors in WalletHub’s 2016’s States with the Best & Worst School Systems report.
The report places MA at the top of the list of states with the best school systems – with New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, and Wisconsin rounding out the top five.
