Steelers of the game, Redskins had no chance

And that was without Le’Veon Bell, their suspended running back.

But you can still question things (it’s the American way!), and this one is simple: Why do you have Josh Norman if you aren’t going to line him up on the best wide receiver in the NFL?

The Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to the Washington Redskins to open the Monday Night slate for the 2016 National Football League season. Brown, in case you haven’t spoken to that annoying person with the first pick in your fantasy draft yet today, caught eight passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Roethlisberger looks his way often and the natural chemistry between the two is second to none. “Without (retired) Heath Miller?’ My message was, ‘Well, we’ve got Sammie Coates, Eli, and all the tight ends (and) DeAngelo Williams”‘. We have had a lot of practice reps together, and I think that ultimately it’s about going out there and playing well and we had the plays and the people last night to do it, and we just didn’t get it done mechanically.

Washington led 6-0 and appeared to have another scoring opportunity late in the first quarter when linebacker Ryan Kerrigan sacked and stripped Roethlisberger deep in Pittsburgh territory. Fate would allow the ball to land softly into Rogers’ hands, seemingly before he even realized he had it.

“I actually kind of messed up”, Rogers said.

They got to help usher Peyton Manning to his Denver Era in 2012 (31-19 loss) and had their doors completely blown off by the Ravens in 2011 (35-7).

Pittsburgh’s offense was too much for a Washington defense that has something to prove, as Roethlisberger completed 27 of 37 passes for 300 yards. He just got beat by a great player a couple times. “That’s why I played it the way I played it”. “We have to get after the quarterback more, particularly when we’re ahead”.

“That’s all I can say”.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defense might not have gotten the big plays most demand, but the scheme deployed by Keith Butler worked to perfection. Running back DeAngelo Williams also scored twice. Meanwhile, the Redskins tried to convert a fourth down of their own, but Cousins’ pass to Chris Thompson gained only four when Washington needed five. Then Roethlisberger was at it again, taking the Steelers 77 yards as Williams put the game away with a 15-yard touchdown run to break the 30-point mark.

Monday night was just a continuation of the Steelers’ utter domination of the Redskins for the last 20 years.

After Sunday provided a ton of action across the NFL on opening weekend, tonight’s Monday Night Football lineup is no slouch either.

The only thing keeping them in this game was Dustin Hopkins who was 3 for 3 in his field goal attempts.
