Steelers place LB Bud Dupree on injured reserve
Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree didn’t play at all in the preseason and he missed most of training camp because of a groin injury that has now led him to injured reserve. The former Kentucky Wildcats star is going on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ injured reserve list, the team announced Sunday.

According to NFL’s Ian Rapoport, Dupree is having surgery to fix a core muscle tear.
A rough rookie season will be followed up by possibly a lost year for Bud Dupree.
He re-aggravated the injury on August 9 at the Steelers’ first of two joint practice with the Detroit Lions, Dupree said. “Teams do not have to attach the designation in advance this season. That the Steelers waited suggests they believe he can return this season”.
“I keep trying to go out there too quickly”, Dupree said. “I think I can make a big impact, along with other guys”. Arthur Moats, who started all but five games last season, will slide into the starting lineup Monday Sept. 12, when the Steelers open the season at the Washington Redskins.
Dupree earned four sacks in his first eight games a year ago, but failed to hit the quarterback in his next 10, including the Steelers’ playoff games. Chickillo, a 2015 sixth-round pick, suffered a foot injury against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night and played just 22 of his 71 total snaps last season on defense. The following week against the 49ers he became the first Steelers’ rookie to have sacks in back-to-back games since 2007.
They have signed Steven Johnson to take his place.

Johnson was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos in 2012, and spent his first three seasons with the Broncos.
