Joking aside, when pressed on the issue, Colbert says he can actually see Trump making it all the way to the White House. And that’s not the opinion of Trump. “That’s an opinion on our nation”, he said. And is he horrified by such a notion? “That is much closer to how I took in my art”, Colbert said.

Given that Colbert has brought over his staff from “The Colbert Report” over to this show, he did say that there will be a lot of political humor on “The Late Show”. And in more good news, they said they had just met with the network and were casting another season to follow the one airing in the fall. Later, he said he might do the monologue in different places and in different ways early on. And we’re probably never going to hear it. Now I feel more freed up. “I’d like to have enough humility to find some things along the way”.
