Stephen Colbert books another “Late Show” guest for first episode

When he appeared at the 2015 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, the ballroom was packed, as it marked the first time the former Colbert Report host would ditch his satirical ultra-conservative persona and talk truth about replacing the exiting Late Night host.

And he announced that Kendrick Lamar will be his first musical guest on the show. “One of the reasons I most wanted to drop the character is that I felt had done everything I could do with him, or everything I could with that show, other than have my honest interest in the guest”. And fighting amongst each other doesn’t sound amusing.

A police officer who killed an unarmed college football player during a suspected burglary at a Texas vehicle dealership was fired Tuesday for making mistakes that the city’s police chief said caused a deadly confrontation… “So, right now, I’m just dry-Trumping”. “We’re gonna try to put them together in a new way”. “They liked the show I used to do and asked, would you mind doing another 120 hours a year?” “I can’t wait for him to be the only guy you see”.

When Colbert takes over the 11:35 p.m. show on September 8, the host’s desk will be on the other side of the stage from where Letterman positioned it. Before Letterman’s Late Show wrapped, Colbert visited with Dave at the Ed Sullivan Theater, spending about 90 minutes discussing various aspects of hosting and comedy. “So, no, I’m going to go “no” on boring”. “I hope everyone has success”.

Colbert also said that he was quite hopeful of Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential race this time. “I didn’t play sports when I was young, so maybe I missed the competitive gene. Reverse the set, because I want to try that, too”.

When I relayed Tassler’s answer to Colbert, he confirmed that to this point, CBS essentially has given him free rein. He couldn’t have been more gracious. Do you think Colbert can be amusing without the “Colbert” character? As a result, “I find it a very intimate space now”. “But I love artists, whether they’re actors or musicians”.

“I’m anxious to get on the air”, said Colbert, whose old show on Comedy Central signed off in December.
