Stephen Colbert Finds The One Thing Donald Trump Won’t Talk About Anymore

“First, Colbert pressed Trump with a “big fat meatball” of a question: “[Was] Barack Obama born in the United States?”

“Who knows-I might one day be able to tell my grandkids I got to interview the last President of the United States“, Colbert said at the top of the show.

He then made Colbert chuckle with his description of the proposed wall: “And in that wall, we’re going to have a handsome, big, fat door where people can come into the country…but they have to come in legally”. Trump spoke as usual about his tremendous success in every poll of everything, ever-though in a more hushed tone than usual, recognizing that the Ed Sullivan Theater was less friendly territory for the full Trump Experience.

Failing nearly admirably to acknowledge any of the jokes Colbert peppered throughout the interview, Trump got an opportunity to put the Obama birther question to rest. “I talk about jobs; I talk about our vets being horribly treated”.

Toward the end of their segment, Colbert referenced the character he’d depicted on his previous show, The Colbert Report, and showed a series of provocative quotes, asking whether it was his character or Trump who said them.

“I don’t talk about it anymore”, Trump said.

The billionaire businessman definitely won the game – and it’s pretty clear Trump’s standing behind everything he’s said on the campaign trail. “Finally, a place on TV to hear about Donald Trump”.

“I want to thank you for running for president“, Colbert said. Trump and Colbert also made time to a play a Fallon-esque game of “Trump or Colbert?” The speculating provoked President Obama to publicly release his birth certificate to quell concerns in 2011.

Warren went on to talk about inequalities caused by trickle-down economics which she says hasn’t trickled down to anyone. “I hope you’ll accept my apology … is there anybody you would like to apologize to yourself?”

Before Trump’s departure, Colbert asked him to sign a book for Moniz, with Colbert’s suggested “Dear Ernie, better luck next time”. Colbert seemed unwilling to offend his guest.
