Stephen Colbert Gives Rizzo, Bryant, And Arrieta A ‘Good Luck Rubdown’

The real question is: Are you more jealous that Stephen got to hang out with the Cubbies, or that the Cubbies got to hang with Stephen??

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant crushed a homer to the left field stands in his first pitch during his at-bat during the 2016 All-Star game.

“You could hear it”, Sale said. “I figure it’s a waste if I don’t bring this bad boy home”, Stanton said, hoisting the trophy. “He got a good piece of it”.

We saw it again Tuesday night at Petco Park when the 87th edition of the All-Star Game was contested, when a pristine field suggested that if the Padres had the sort of talent in their lineup that obviously exists within their grounds crew, San Diego would win a heck of a lot more games. Sox outfielder Magglio Ordonez cranked one off the Cubs’ Jon Lieber in 2001. “I said, ‘No, Dad, I’m going to take the first pitch”. Zobrist flew out on the second pitch of the game and Harper grounded Sale’s third pitch weakly to second base. “The home run was really special”.

Sox lefty Jose Quintana pitched a scoreless fifth, striking out Wilson Ramos on a curve with runners on the corners.

Colbert, a SC native, spent 11 years in Chicago while attending Northwestern University, and later got his start at the famed Second City, where he met his former Strangers with Candy co-stars Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello, who serves as a writer and supervising producer on The Late Show, where he has also made several on-screen appearances.

“It’s pretty cool being in my first All-Star Game and he’s in his last, ” Russell said. “He looks like a ballplayer, even down to the way he walks”.

In his second at-bat, with the NL trailing 3-1 with two outs in the third, Bryant came up with runners on second and third and a chance to tie the game. “This will be a couple days that I’ll remember for a long time”. (Hamels) was on that day, and Jake (Arrieta) was too.

Sure the all star game is geared toward kids – but I believe it is geared toward the kid in all of us.
