Stephen Colbert Helps #SaveNelly with Catchy New Song ‘Debt In Herre’

The one problem with this unsolicited financial advice – and it’s a big one – is that the Swedish music service doesn’t pay much in per-play royalties.

According to Spin, streaming giant Spotify pays artists somewhere between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream.

St. Louis rapper Nelly has been in the news a lot recently after being hit with a $2 million tax lien, which has crippled him. Nelly isn’t fairing poorly at other times of day, either, with his streams reportedly surging to similar but slightly lower heights. “If you don’t know any Nellyville residents, though, then you’ll have to dedicate at least 1,405,864,580 minutes to the cause”. “Nasa just revealed that this past August was the hottest in Earth’s history”, Fallon joked, “Or as Nelly might say ‘It’s getting hot in herre so hot so take off all your clothes”.

Enter Late Show host Stephen Colbert, who is doing his part to try and help Nelly. “Don’t ever call me selfish”. Sources close to the rapper told the celebrity news and gossip site that he’s working with tax authorities to resolve the issue.

The unique idea is the brainchild of United States entertainment website Spin with writer Brian Josephs proposing that if fans stream his 2002 summer anthem Hot in Herre at least a collective 287,176,547 times, Nelly could earn a sizable payout.
