Stephen Colbert rents a vehicle to James Bond in ‘Spectre’ spoof

And “Spectre” contains all the quintessential Bond movie elements – clever action sequences, spectacular locales, colorful baddies and another assured performance by Craig in his fourth outing as 007. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others can not. The Illuminati-esque organisation creates more questions than it answers, but that doesn’t seem to be the point here. “You always get these handsome, unbelievable cars with the gadgets – and then you wreck them immediately”. The film is definitely thrilling and throws great Easter eggs linking to our old classic Bond. For over 20 years, not one of the cars appeared in a Bond film. While Skyfall featured more of an emotional adventure for Bond and his colleagues (particularly M), Spectre features more of a straight forward spy plot.

“Spectre” debuted in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 26. Ian Fleming, the author of the Bond books, is not as well-known as his most-famous creations, but he might have actually been a better spy than Bond. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the awful truth behind SPECTRE.

As he weaves a path to the heart of Spectre, he discovers a chilling connection between himself and the group’s head (Christoph Waltz) who he hopes to capture.

By Newsy’s count, Craig is the drunkest, least womanizing Bond. Personally, I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of the James Bond series, but I would say that Daniel Craig is probably my favorite Bond. (“Who sent you?”) But the lines aren’t as sharp as they were in “Skyfall” or “Casino”, and Craig doesn’t quite make his stamp on the character this time, keeping the tough-guy vulnerability we’ve seen before under wraps.

Undoubtedly the highlight of this film is the opening sequence.

But the worst thing is this writer’s opinion was the theme song.

Even if Spectre wasn’t the best James Bond movie, it certainly won’t be the last. But fans can be sure of one thing: whomever plays James Bond next, he will be handsome and will look good in a tuxedo! A good chuckle ran through the theater, and I distinctly remember looking over to my fellow Advocate editor and sharing an incredulous eye-roll.
