Stephen Colbert says everything you wish you could say to Ryan Lochte
Lochte, of course, already sat down with the Today show’s Matt Lauer to explain his version of the incident that made worldwide headlines, but Colbert chose to re-use the same interview, taking short clips from the real interview and re-contextualizing for his audience’s entertainment.

Since Stephen Colbert could not get access to the controversial Olympian, he made a decision to edit together his own interview with Lochte from the existing footage with truly wonderful results. The cold open to Monday night’s show spliced Colbert into the Matt Lauer role in Lochte’s Today interview.
In the fake interview, Colbert demands answers, and Lochte’s explanation was simple: “I over-exaggerated that part”.
First Stephen mocks Ryan for saying he is trying to “lay low” amidst all of the drama he caused, reminding him that going on television isn’t exactly keeping a low profile.
Colbert asked what it’s been like for the Olympic swimmer since the scandal broke.
“That part?” Colbert retorted.
“Without a gun cocked to your forehead, it’s really just a story about some guys urinating on a gas station”, Colbert says in the clip. “How could you get that so wrong?” “I was intoxicated”, Lochte replied.
