Stephen Curry out at least 2 weeks with sprained right knee

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry underwent an MRI on Monday afternoon revealing a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee, the team announced on Twitter.

Back in December when Lionel Messi reached 30 million Instagram followers, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry, who wears the number 30, sent the Barcelona star a signed jersey and a congrats message on Facebook. Curry had missed the previous two games with a sprained right ankle. However, even if the Warriors are able to close out the first-round series with the Rockets, it’s quite likely that Curry misses the entire second round, and perhaps even the Western Conference Finals.

But as the AP’s Josh DuBow pointed out, no matter when the series starts, the second round nearly always plays Games 4 and 5 on a Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday schedule, which would point to May 6-8 or May 7-9 in this pending series.

Exactly how long Curry is out could be the difference between the Warriors repeating as National Basketball Association champions and every other team still having a chance. Game 5 is Wednesday night in Oakland. It will be a huge test, but if the Warriors can hang on for two weeks, they could welcome back their MVP in the midst of a second-round battle.

The actual result is the normal middle ground: Curry isn’t seriously injured, but he will be out for a little while, which isn’t good in the playoffs.

No matter how early you start the second round, the rest of the schedule usually balances out.

“Just his presence alone on the court makes the defense gravitate to him”, Thompson said. Then the series between the Clippers and Portland to extend to at least six games.

“Terrible way, bad way, awful way to lose… just a bad quarter and that’s what gave the game away”, Harden said.
