Stephen Curry’s mouthguard goes for $3K in auction

If, for whatever reason, you’re in the market for a used Stephen Curry mouthguard, it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. At a California-based auction held on Sunday morning, a mouthguard used by Steph Curry in a December 2015 game was sold for right around $3,200. A pair of shoes that Dr. J wore and autographed after his final National Basketball Association game fetched $8,562.

SCP Auctions had opened bidding on the mouthguard at $1,500.

The mouthguard has Curry’s name on it, as does its carrying case, and the sale calls to mind the 2002 film “Like Mike” – in which Bow Wow played a character who gained spectacular hoops skills by wearing Michael Jordan’s shoes. The funniest thing about this whole thing was that the auctioneer expected it to sell for more, according to the same article.

John Wooden’s UCLA jacket from the early 1970s received a bid of $85,592 but wasn’t sold because the amount didn’t meet the confidential reserve set for the item.
