While we continue to mourn Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of It that might have been, the remake of Stephen King’s classic horror story is still chugging right along with Mama director Andy Muschietti at the helm.
Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing along with David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith. The creature returns to plague the Club as adults, forcing the Club to reunite even though they have no recollection of the previous battle.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Bill Skarsgard is the son of Stellan Skarsgard, who plays Erik Selveig in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the younger brother of True Blood and Legend of Tarzan star Alexander Skarsgard. With his departure from the project, over creative and budgetary differences, and the subsequent exit of Bill Poulter from the role of Pennywise, the project’s shimmer has been dulled a bit.
Skarsgard will play Pennywise, the evil monster who terrorizes a group of kids in a small ME town. “New Line’s first movie will tell the kids’ story, “The Hollywood Reporter writes, “while the second movie will focus on the adults”.
New Line recently announced the movie, directed by “Mama” helmer Andres Muschietti, would bow on September 8, 2017.

Pennywise was originally depicted by Tim Curry in the 1990 TV mini-series, but what’s interesting to note is that “It” shows up in many forms in the book, so don’t just expect to see Skarsgard as a clown.
