Stephen Strasburg to undergo MRI after feeling pinch in elbow

Turner was one of only a few regulars starting for Washington after the team commuted home following a Sunday night game at the New York Mets.

Turner would get his revenge later in the game with a two-run single to expand the Nationals lead to 9-6 in the eighth inning. After three consecutive Nationals singles, Anthony Rendon launched an 0-2 pitch to left for his first career grand slam. After playing the night before on ESPN, Baker chose to rest a number of starting players, including Daniel Murphy, Bryce Harper, and Jayson Werth. The Nationals “almighty righty” grimaced after striking out Atlanta pitcher Mike Foltynewicz.

Over on the Nationals’ side, Washington hasn’t officially announced their starter for Wednesday, but we’ll update once they do. He led the first inning off with a double against Braves right-hander Ryan Weber, launched a laser-beam two-run home run that had an exit velocity of 109 miles per hour and traveled an estimated 429 feet in the third, and tacked on an RBI single in the fourth. Removing him for a pinch-hitter with a four-run lead and Jose Lobaton on first base following a single would’ve been reasonable.

Since losing on Aug 2, Foltynewicz is 4-0 with three no-decisions.

Just last year, shortstop Dansby Swanson was the first overall pick in the MLB Draft, and a year later, he’s already hit a homer at the major-league level.

Washington created problems for Weber the second time he went through the order. After Bryce Harper was intentionally walked to load the bases, Wilson Ramos singled off Brandon Cunniff to win it. 5-4 final. Ballgame. Finally.

Yesterday afternoon, Dusty Baker decided to make radical changes to the Washington Nationals (80-57) lineup before their game against the Atlanta Braves (54-84).

Washington’s relievers, as a group, have allowed 25.5% of inherited runners to score, behind only San Francisco’s relief corps’ mark of just 20.6%.

Before Gio Gonzalez takes on Williams Perez tonight at Nats Park (7:05 p.m ET, MASN2), check out my three takeaways from yesterday’s 6-4 win by the Washington Nationals win over the Braves.

In today’s Nationals-themed “Fun with Arbitrary End Points” segment, the Nationals are 114-103 all-time vs the Braves, but they’re 34-11 against their NL East rivals. since June 21, 2014.
