Indian police officials have arrested a parrot for hurling obscene words at an 85-year-old woman in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, said Indian media on Tuesday.
According to the reports, a petted parrot has been accused of abusing an old lady who has filed a complaint against the owner of the parrot, her stepson.
Sakharkar told police she believes her stepson, Suresh, trained the parrot to shout obscenities at her because of an ongoing land dispute between the family members.
A fight broke out between a mother and her son and the parrot named Hariyal was dragged into it.
“?I am being harassed for the last two years”.
“That is why I have complained thrice in the last two years. We watched the parrot carefully but it did not utter a word at the police station after being confronted by the complainant”.

Bemused officers have decided they are unable to lock the foul-mouthed bird up, but have handed it to the state’s forest department.
